We woke up to a gorgeous sunrise, at 7:45 we all met at the patio. We all had eggs, rice and beans, fruit, toast, and a selection of juices and coffee, it was delicious. After we had time to rest and then drove to the American Nicaraguan School. On the way we saw tin houses to colorful mansions, and the range of fast food restaurants. As we arrived at ANS the first thing we noticed was that there were guards, and the campus was similar to a college's. As they called our names one by one we entered the building. We then met our ANS buddies and got on our way to their french presentation to watch cancans and singing kindergartens. We went to get our lunch in the ANS food court. It was filled with Papa Johns pizza and Subway sandwiches. The only place Michelle Obama has not made her way to. So, we continued to shove our mouths with junk food. Then we went on to more classes and activities. The activities ranged from PE to the History of Nicaragua. At the end of our time at ANS we did our presentation and got on our way. By Mateo and Shannon We started off this afternoon eating at the American Nicaraguan School. There were a selection of options to eat at ANS. For example, pizza, chicken fingers, fries, salads, etc. After the lunch bell rang, we went to two more classes with our ambassadors. The classes that each of us went to was Math, English, Spanish, History, Nicaragua's history, and PE. During some of the classes we realized that some teachers would just give work and let the kids do it until class ended. After the two periods, we went to an assembly room to share our life in Philadelphia and what Take Flight is. We were really excited and nervous to present in front of our ambassadors because we knew them but we didn't really know them. After we showed them the presentation, we showed them how advisory goes in ICS. First we did a international greeting, which was to say hello in a different language. Then we shared what was the peak of our day. Some said "When we first stepped into the school,"-ICS student. Others said "I liked leading my partner because I felt in charge,"-ANS student. Lastly we played a game. The game was called a A warm wind blows. How you play the game is you have to say something that you think other students have in common. If the students do have something in common then the students sitting down stands up and switches seats with other students. The last person standing is in the middle and has to re-play the game over and over again. Overall the game was pretty fun. When we were all done we left the school to go to the hotel. After we got back, we all got changed and jumped into the pool to cool off and relax. The pool was really pretty. All of us were jumping in the pool and pushing each other in the pool. We played in the pool for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. After we got out we showered and were off to the restaurant. The restaurant was beautiful. We were seated out side and could not have arrived at a more wonderful time. The sun was setting and the decorated tree lights started turning on. As the waiter asked us what we wanted to drink most of us said Iced tea. After that the waiter asked us what we wanted to eat. Some of us asked for chicken and beans and others asked for steak. When the food arrived it smelled like the best food on earth. We were eating that food like we got trapped in a desert and hadn't ate in 2 years. In about 5 minutes the food was gone. The owner was there and asked if we liked the food. All of us either said "yes," or "we are totally coming back!" We got on the van and headed back to the hotel. We then had a meeting and went to bed. By Kyla and Matthew Good morning parents, friends and family of the Nicaragua team. The travel day is done, now on to some more fun!!!
